TB Alert Delhi DOTS Project - project completed
Delhi DOTS aims to provide a comprehensive package of TB awareness and treatment to some of the poorest areas of Delhi, including education of the causes and treatment of TB, provision of treatment centres in line with World Health Organisation (WHO), DOTS*. The project aims to engage with the local communities, provide education and help to remove the stigma that is still associated with TB.

5 Treatment centres (Lal Kuan, Ali Nagar, Harkesh Nagar, Shaheen Bagh and Mithapur) have been setup as DOTS centres. Dr Peter Davis, one of TB Alert's Trustees (pictured right) inaugurated the centres, and takes a special interest in the project, helping to monitor progress and offer advice and support. Over the past three years, TB Alert has built the infrastructure of DOT volunteers and awareness raising, to the point where the centres could be taken over by the government TB Service. This handover has now taken place and TB Alert has been asked by the goverment to develop similar work in the north of Delhi - read more
