Can't I do something a bit less active?
Physical activities are not for everyone. But there are lots of other ways you could use your skills, imagination and determination to raise money for TB Alert.
If you are known as a bit of a talker – why not get your friends to sponsor you to be totally silent for a day?
How much would your friends pay to see you give up one of your vices for a week? Try chocolate, cigarettes, fattening foods, alcohol or whatever people will pay you to forgo. You could also donate the money you save!
Or if you are looking to lose weight, why not help yourself along by raising money for every pound or kilo you lose?
Don’t want to give anything up? Sponsored Pub Crawls are always popular (even if they don’t always get finished!) and mean you don’t have to feel guilty about a night out with your friends having the odd drink or 5!
Got young children or grandchildren? Kids love a challenge – how about a toddlathon? You could get together with the other mums or grandparents to arrange a walk with your toddlers around a local park.
Live by the sea? Set yourself a challenge of building sandcastles and get people to sponsor you (you should be able to build a few hundred in an hour!)

I don't like asking people for sponsorship money
Often this can be the hardest part of the challenge. But there are ways to make it easier:
Check if your company will match gifts to charities – many companies will match your sponsorship – thus instantly doubling what you have raised!
Find a good “lead gift” – choose the right person to make the first gift and other sponsors will usually follow their lead and give the same amount.
Ask for the money up-front when they sign the form – that saves you having to ask again.
Ask TB Alert for more ideas – we can help! Call 0845 223 5293 or email helping@tbalert.org

What does TB Alert want from me?
Your time and effort to put yourself through a new challenge is a fantastic gift to TB Alert. All we want is your assurance that what you do is safe and legal, and that you will raise as much money as you can to help us in our work. But if you are really proud of your achievement (and you should be!) – why not send us some pictures and a few words for us to put on our website or in our newsletter, and help us persuade other supporters to take up a sponsored challenge too.
